Flågbekken at Øvrevatnet

Tilbake

The steep cliffs on the north side of  Øvrevatnet have some fine, steep, accessible ice- and mixclimbing.

Approach: From the E6, take road nr 851 towards "Sjøvegan". Park between Øvrevatnet and Nedrevatnet (appr. 14 km from the E6). The climbs are easily seen on the opposite side of the lake. Make sure the ice on the lake is safe before you cross it. Approach, 15 min, flat walk.

See map over the area in own browser window. ©http://www.norgeskart.no

Other iceclimbs in the area: The valley "Spansdalen" is a classic iceclimbing area. Several multipitch waterfalls on both sides of the valley. No further descriptions here.

Around the corner of the cliff there is more climbing. A wide section of ice with 7-8-9-10 different lines, both easy and harder stuff. Perfect spot for climbingcourses, gatherings etc. See picture below from the icegathering in 2007.

Crowded at the right side of the cliff at the gathering in 2007. Many good, short ice- and mixclimbs. NB! No bolts here. Photo Sveinung Råheim
